Happy Saturday, everyone!  Today, let’s talk about having Confident Style at any price point.

For years, I have encouraged you that confident style at any price point is attainable.  It does not matter what you paid for a garment.

Most of us…ok, me….would love to have the disposable income to own high end clothing.  

However, most of us…ok, me…understand that during this time of our lives we are living on pretty strict budgets.

I have enjoyed my treasure hunts through thrift stores, Goodwill, affordable places like Old Navy…even yard sales.

As long as I stick to looking for items that tell the world I can be described as intentional, casual ,creative, approachable and current, it does not matter what they cost.

When all five of my style adjectives are speaking in an outfit, I can go out smiling in confident style.

CONFIDENT STYLE AT AT ANY PRICE POINT: OPEN MIND

Since I decided to dress a little more casual in my new community, I have opened my mind to new ideas that previously I would not consider.

Everything in this outfit was purchased at a low price…over time.  And I have worn these in different ways…except I was not open to message t-shirts.

I had tried them, but felt them to be too casual for the style adjectives I had at the time.

Now, a few will work. 

Both of these message tees were recently purchased at Old Navy…OLD NAVY GRAPHIC T-SHIRTS…and I purchased two for about $15 total.

Both blazers were purchased on sale at BANANA REPUBLIC FACTORY and I have worn them often.

I even surprised myself that I liked both of these outfits and will repeat them.  The t-shirts fit well and feel great.

I am still picky about what is on the message t-shirt but, this is a confident style for me.

This little exercise has encouraged me to be open minded and have more fun with my casual style.  Just because it is casual, it does not have to be boring.

Sticking by style adjectives will help you so much to achieve confidence…and save money too.

Chico’s new February standouts lean farther into spring, and feature stripes,  boho, new pants, and new colors.

There is something for everyone, and I kept that in mind when selecting the standouts.

But I began today with this feminine style for a stiped top.

It is the STRIPED POPLIN RUFFLE NECK SHIRT in tidal blue…and this shirt also looks great not tucked in with a rounded hemline.

CHICO’S NEW FEBRUARY STANDOUTS:  A TOUCH OF NATURAL LACE

The Chico’s new February Standouts have some great designs in a natural, boho vibe.

You are looking at a very flattering design in this top.

It is the the CROCHET SEQUIN TANK.

It will go with just about anything, but I particularly love it with the jacket.

My Chico’s new standouts are predominately elevated casual styles for your spring outfits.

This is the denim EMBROIDERED FRAYED DENIM TRUCKER JACKET...I would eliminate the word “trucker” but the jacket looks great.

Particularly…I like the pockets on this denim jacket…not as cumbersome as larger pockets with buttons.

CHICO’S NEW FEBRUARY STANDOUTS:  NEW PANTS

Of course, there are new jeans to go with the above natural vibe pieces.

These are the GIRLFRIEND SLIM CROCHET FRAY ANKLE JEANS.

And these would look so good with the SHORT CROCHET LACE KIMONO.

I have my eye on these and the new color pale sand.

The pants are the HIGH HEM STRAIGHT CROP PANTS, and the cute belt is the FLORAL BUCKLE TROUSER BELT.

Chico’s new standouts are stepping up the floral prints so that your spring outfits will standout!

These are the Brigitte Slim Mari Bloom Crop in a print starring Hot Honeysuckle...a new color that has my attention.

This outfit is so refreshing and such a great look for those of you who wear white shirts.

A couple of athletic designs have hit the Chico’s new standouts in pants.

This first one is all stripes with a wider white one on the side…and this design can be very flattering to the eye.

These are the super cute GIRLFRIEND TICKING STRIPE CROP JEANS.

Now, this stripe down the side is smaller and I like the color of the pant….cattail brown.

And these are on sale for a really good price…the BRIGITTE PIPED STRAIGHT CROPPED PANTS.

I like the styled picture with a cardigan and small scarf to pop the look.

CHICO’S NEW FEBRUARY STANDOUTS:  ON TOP

I like that Chico’s is bringing stripes in different colors and lengths.  This is a Goldilocks shirt…not too long and not too short.

This is the NO IRON STRIPED LINEN SHIRT in oatmeal and I love it with the STRIPED FLORAL OBLONG SCARF in neutral.

A style-forward way to mix prints.

Here is an excellent third piece for under a jacket or topper or cardigan.

And, it looks so good NOT TUCKED IN.

This is the STRIPED HIGH NECK RIB TANK in cattail brown stripes.

Here I am loving more pink…and I do like the entire outfit here.

This is the PRINTED JERSEY AND SATIN DOLMAN TEE…with the focus being the Hot Honeysuckle color but here it looks more pink.

CHICO’S NEW FEBRUARY STANDOUTS:  SPECIAL STANDOUTS

Now, here is the hot honeysuckle color full on in a special standout jacket.

My wonderful friend, Leigh Ann, did some field reporting for us and stopped by a Chico’s yesterday to see this color.

They did not even have it on the floor yet, but went in the back and brought out a top for her to see.

She said…Hot Honeysuckle is not pink or orange, but is a bright coral. 

Thanks to Leigh Ann for being our eyes on this new color.

I put this COLLARLESS TWILL BOX JACKET in the Chico’s new standouts because it appears to be a lightweight spring jacket perfect for the warmer weather.

And this is a WOW Chico’s new standout when you really want to elevate a look for spring.

This is the LONG FAUX LEATHER KIMONO...and I do know from experience that Chico’s faux leather is comfortable and lightweight to wear.

And here is a fun way to dress up your jeans.

This is the JACQUARD DENIM BLAZER…such a perfect way to wear floral.

I have seen this dress design on very expensive websites…and here it is much more affordable…an the style is very popular right now.

This is the DOLMAN TIE HEMP DENIM SHIRTDRESS in seagrass green.

And let’s end today with a gorgeous pop of color in a neck scarf.

This is the BOTANIC BURST SQUARE SCARF and the predominant color is ecru.

Chico’s new February standouts have me excited about spring and possibly adding the new Hot Honeysuckle color.

I believed there were more notable new Talbots tops in the blouses/shirts catagory.

Here is a soft, feminine way to take a love of animal print into spring.

It is the feature picture at the top of the post today.

This is the RUFFLE TOP – ALLURING LEOPARD in a print called Ivory/Cobblestone Multi.

I like the unique colors of this striped blouse…it just has a cool vibe to it.

This is the THE DAILY SHIRT IN COTTON POPLIN STRIPE…in colors ivory and apple.

I might even try this styling of unbuttoning TWO buttons from the bottom…That leaves three actually buttoned up.

Many tops in the new Talbots arrivals have matching pants…this is one of them.

The EMBROIDERED POPLIN TOP comes in dark orange and black.

The design of this new tunic looks very flattering.

It is not too long…as many tunics are…and the sleeve length, V-neck, and rounded hemlines are all features that will flatter your shape.

I would love to see this design in some lovely colors.

This is a similar style in a linen top with a little shorter length….and matching cargo linen pants!

I like the collar and zipper design of this one for a more flattering fit.

I like that the new Talbots tops show us stripes in different colors….including for warm palettes.

This is the ORGANIC COTTON STRIPE SHORT SLEEVE TEE in a ivory/hibiscus stripe…which looks like a warm terracotta color.

And here is a lovely detail on a simple tee….would be so pretty under a third piece.

This is the LACE TRIM CREWNECK TOP...which comes in four colors.  Pictured is the Vista Blue.

There are many different shades of corals and pinks.  And most of us can wear some shade of pink.

Just a two months into 2026, I have seen shades from dusty rose to hot pink.

I confess…I tossed in corals because those of us in the Spring Palette look for it and this year, we do have options.

Also, when I am building a collection in My Shop, unless it is about one brand, I do my best to include different price points.

And I tossed in new shoes because I was excited about new releases from one of my favorite brands.

I love these jeans so much…remember I like to wear skinny jeans and, yes, they are on trend once again.

I love how these look for Talbots Spring Outfits and they are on my wish list.

Talbots has many options in pants of several colors for your spring outfits.

These are linen, so I wanted to point them out to you…they are the STRAIGHT ANKLE LEG LINEN PANTS.

The lovely lakeside blue would be very nice for a Easter look with pants.

TALBOTS SPRING OUTFITS FROM THE BOTTOM: PICKS IN SKIRTS

I like these skirts for Talbots Spring Outfits because they can be dressed up or down.

This CLASSIC LINEN TROUSER SKIRT would look just as cute with sneakers as with heels or sandals.

The slit doesn’t bother me at all…I would wear it…would you?

Of course, I always notice the Talbots Spring Outfits in green.

This cute skirt is the FRESH POPLIN DRAWSTRING SKIRT in a dewdrop stripe.

Looks great for when the temperatures begin to heat up!

How pretty is this and I love the Idea of a patio skirt.

That is what it is called…The PIPER PLEATED PATIO SKIRT in a print called Beautiful Scroll.

I really wish this would look good on my body type, but some of you would look amazing in it.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, ladies! Today I share my first toe in the water with new colors in a spring palette outfit for lunch.

As I begin a new life in a spring palette outfit, please know that I am “gently” moving forward and learning about new colors.

I was thrilled to hear from one of our regular readers, Jeanine, and she asked if I wanted to meet for lunch.

Jeanine previously lived in Abilene and still has friends and family here so she occasionally travels here to visit.

A new love and new marriage took her to another city.

This is the second time since moving that a reader has reached out for lunch and I am loving it.

It just happened that we had scheduled this at a time when I would be in a new spring outfit.

Come here about the spring outfit and a little about our lunch….(sorry that I do not have green for you today…but it will be back!)

A SPRING PALETTE OUTFIT: THE COLOR

I know this spring palette outfit is very simple, but it will take me awhile to learn about prints and my new colors.

What is new in the spring palette outfit is the yellow top.

It is easy for me to add layering pieces right now, since the weather allows for the jackets and cardigans over the spring palette colors.

There are several colors in my new Spring Palette Fan that I did not have in my current wardrobe.

So, I took the fan and ordered a few pieces from Chicos and Talbots  see if they would work.

This is one of the colors that did work…you will see Corn Yellow has two stars in my palette and I believe this top matches.

The color at Chico’s is called Golden Haze.

I am wearing the TOUCH OF COOL 3/4 SLEEVE TEE (on sale), and I also ordered the MICROFIBER TANK In golden haze.

As we move closer to summer, I may be able to find the Canary Yellow color and add it…you will see it has three stars and is in my top best colors.

My jeans are my standard CHICO’S GIRLFRIEND JEANS that I have owned for a very long time.

I am wearing the Chico’s off-white denim jacket that I also have owned for a very long time.

But, I tell you, this beauty is calling my name….FLORAL CUTOUT DENIM JACKET.

I love the creative design…but the alabaster may be too cool for my warm palette.  

Hopefully, I can see one soon.

Another piece I have owned a long time is my Chico’s necklace with lemons and rope.

This was my touch of creative (my style adjectives are polished, creative, approachable, current and joyful).

I have not worn this necklace very often, but I believe I will now that I am styling a spring palette outfit each day.

My accessories are mostly gold, but I was able to find scarves that will now go with my spring palette…so I will get a bit more creative soon with styling.

You can see here that just with my old pieces that my wardrobe is now brighter.  I have moved out the majority of the very dark colors.

I am hoping that some of these old colors you see here will work.

I am working on also finding prints…like the lovely print Jeanine wore…to add to my spring palette outfit selections.

This is a work in progress…thank you for going on the journey with me.

A SPRING PALETTE OUTFIT: JEANINE

Jeanine is a precious over -50 lady who I really enjoyed getting to know.

She is a cute petite and her outfit was as bright as her personality…say “HI” to her the next time you see her pop up in the comments.

Her shoes were also very cute.

She is one stylish West Texas girl.

Jeanine and her new husband do many things, but they also suit up in the white protective gear and raise bees!

I was so excited to be gifted her organic, pure honey…which is delicious!

A SPRING PALETTE OUTFIT : THE EATERY

We selected a new eatery where I would wear my spring palette outfit.

It is called SWEET THYME KITCHEN, and the food was excellent.

I had a spinach and pear salad with a scoop of chicken salad.

Jeanine and her husband are having great success with the carnivore diet… so she enjoyed the BLT sandwich (though admitted the bread was a treat)

Happy Saturday, all!  Time for another look at 2024 fashion trends with this week’s peer into monochrome outfits.

Monochrome outfits are also considered timeless, high impact, effortless, easy ways to dress.

However, this year, it is a trend…because so many brands are styling these looks.

Predominately, monochrome outfits are in one color; however, since it is among the 2024 fashion trends, you also see some this year in all prints, like the JOHNNY WAS SILK AT DILLARD’S.

And they are described that way by professionals in the industry.

The advantages of wearing monochrome outfits are mostly simplicity, slimming appearances, affordability, and some would say…elegance.

According to Harper’s Bazzar,

Monochromatic outfits are one of the most impactful ways to stand out in fashion. A head-to-toe ensemble in one shade, even in a neutral brown, gray, or black, conveys a sense of irreverence and put-togetherness all at once.

Hmmm…looking at it that way, monochrome outfits would be in my style adjectives…polished, approachable, joyful, current, and creative.

I do like how the look creates a blank slate for powerful accessories, but I realize that may be leaving the area of simplicity.

So, let’s look closer at monochrome outfits in the 2024 fashion trends……

2024 FASHION TRENEDS: MONOCHROME OUTFITS

Since this hits in the 2024 fashion trends, I am discovering monochrome looks everywhere I go…and also discovering what some women think.

I tried on this in the JJILL WEAREVER COLLECTION last week, and listened to one woman in the dressing room tell me that it is too much like pajamas.

I have also heard some call monochrome outfits too “matchy-matchy.”

(BTW) I will have more from my JJILL try-on session on Monday.

Quince is another brand where you can find 2024 fashion trends, such as monochrome outfits.

I wear this casual look from QUINCE LINEN.

I also like how Quince offers so many colors if you want monochrome style, and they have a pajama monochrome outfit I would wear out and about…not just for sleep.

My favorite “matchy-matchy” look this spring has been this one from Chico’s…but I did not take it full on like some women do with the matching blouse…mostly because I want this verdant green closer to my face.

But I do love wearing the jacket and pants together and also with separate pieces.

Every Saturday since the new year, I have featured a 2024 fashion trend on Saturdays so you know what will be featured online and in store.

Today’s 2024 fashion trend is tailored vests and yes, they are everywhere and you do see them in a variety of colors.

Let’s discuss this trend a bit, before you discount it completely.

I know some may think it too young…and some may think it for professional wear only.

However, there is a discussion to be had for women over 50.

So, let’s get going and continue to look over the 2024 fashion trends.

2024 FASHION TRENDS: TAILORED VESTS FOR WOMEN

TALBOT’S LINEN BLEND SLUB VEST

Menswear items are among the 2024 fashion trends, and there are women who like the look for casual/retirement wear.

I wear blazers and jackets over a variety of tops with my jeans…one of my favorite casual styles.

When I saw this, I thought it might be a great tailored option to the tanks and camis I wear so often giving me that polished look I so enjoy.

However, fit is everything, and right now I have not found one with a fit I liked.  I am returning one I ordered online, and would need to try on more in the stores.

For me, I need to take time to find that fit if I am serious about the tailored vest trend.

I also desire to wear just the vest with a long necklace under the blazer…but some of these are very low cut.
