Happy Tuesday, friends.  Welcome to the continuing saga of me...Living as a Spring Palette Woman.

I confess that living as a spring palette woman has been a bit of a challenge for me.

While I have worn versions of the colors for a long time, I do not own many of the best colors.

Like the velvet top I am wearing today…it is an older John Mark top from Dillard’s that I wore on a cruise long before I learned that I am spring.

There are a few greens I can wear…but this shade is not one…though close enough I think it works.

Last year, after learning I was a spring, I ended up wearing mostly corals, the flamingo pink (Chico’s dried roses color), soft yellow, and off whites.

I think it is time to up my game this year…so after the closet re-do, this will be my plan.

LIVING AS A SPRING PALETTE WOMAN: ONE NEW WORD

Last week, I was studying my spring palette swatch book from House of Colour, and one word jumped out at me that I had not noticed before.

SPLASHY!  Synonyms of “splashy” are noticeable, dramatic, commanding, visible, notable, even…flamboyant.  I like that!

So, it occurred to me that I have been playing my spring palette a little too safe.

When I saw chocolate in my palette, I was relieved…I had plenty of brown and loved wearing brown.  But, chocolate doesn’t make my face light up as other colors do.

I could see it when I sat in the chair at our local House of Colour…I could see that the brighter colors brightened my complexion just as the new hair color does.

The challenge has been to match the exact colors in my book and to focus on the words bright and warm….yes clear and light are important; but I believe I need more of the bright and warm.

(I hope this isn’t confusing)

SHOPPING GOAL NUMBER ONE:  LOOK FOR BRIGHT, WARM, AND SPLASHY

LIVING AS A SPRING PALETTE WOMAN: IT’S IN THE STARS

Last year, I was excited to find ANY COLOR in my spring palette swatch book in a garment I liked.

But, in order to be my best warm and bright self, this year I have a different plan.

My color specialist, Kim, went through my book and put three stars on my very best colors; and two stars on the next level.

After evaluating my purchases last year, the majority were two stars.

Again, that is not a bad thing…I just want to strive for the stars this year!  It also depends on the colors that hit the racks.

My three star colors (which I know you cannot see them)…are:

Chocolate Brown is a three star neutral

Bright navy

Coral Geranium Red

Flamingo Pink…this was an exact match to the Chico’s dried roses

Kerry Green

Mint Green

Canary Yellow

Bright Blue

Violet

Aqua

LIVING AS A SPRING PALETTE WOMAN: COURAGE TO CHANGE

Last year, my courage to change to a spring palette was slow going.

This time when I organize the closet, I want to move out more of the old colors in my wardrobe and commit fully to the new ones.

Why do this when I like many of the old colors?

Because, I do want to look vibrant, youthful, healthy, and splashy!  Wearing the spring palette helps me to look that way.

Now that I have new eyes…the better to see colors with my dear…I can make more informed decisions.  It is amazing how different the colors look after the surgery.

I am kind of shocked at how different the swatch book looks!

Except for just a very few pieces, the majority of my jewelry is already gold.

And I do prefer wearing gold.

So, accessories are good…though I might go back through the scarves.

Happy Saturday, all!  Today, I am discussing cataracts, colors, and content!

These three…cataracts, colors and content have been on my mind the most the past few days.

So, in the celebration of good alliteration, let’s discuss all three.

Beginning, with my initial cataract meeting at the eye surgery clinic last week.

They confirmed that cataracts in both eyes are the reasons for my difficulty with eye sight at this time.

So, my first surgery is scheduled for January 22, and the second follows on February 5.

I did not realize until I got to the clinic that there are three lenses to select.

We have decided to go with the lense that would keep me in readers, but take me out of the Progressives I am currently wearing.  The third option is just too expensive at this time.

Christmas night, I was leaving my daughter’s house and I could not even see the steps to walk down from the front door…just a blob of black…so I am really excited to get this done.

(In case you ask, the porch light was off for better Christmas lights, and my son offered his arm to get me down the steps!)

Thank you all for you great advice and encouragement…I pick up the eye drops soon.

CATARACTS, COLORS, AND CONTENT:  COLOR

I am using this taupe cape that I have owned from Chico’s for years, just to demonstrate that the colors in my wardrobe do vary…for a reason.

When I began blogging, I had no idea that colors made such a big difference in our complexions and, for a long time, I just wore what I liked….which always included black.

At a special color session in a Soft Surroundings in San Antonio (now closed), a “color professional” told me I was a winter….I rejoiced and wore more black.

Then during the pandemic, I had an online color professional (who I still love) from London tell me that I am a autumn…and she still believes strongly that I am an autumn.

I fell hard for the autumn color palette and still own many colors in that palette.

However, when looking in the mirror,  I could still see shadows cast on my face so I went for an in-person session..REVIEW OF MY HOUSE OF COLOUR ANALYSIS.

The spring colors on me were an eye-opening WOW…I was amazed and pleased that I was still in a warm palette.

However, shopping for the spring palette has been more of a challenge…so during the fall and, now, winter I have reached more for my autumn colors…and the few black pieces I still own because I love them.

But, I want to return to wearing my best colors...not what I have on today...and be better about locating them.  Why?  I do look better wearing those colors.

Needless to say, my closets have become jumbled messes of different colors…so I am going to reorganize (more about that later) and move the spring palette more front and center.

CATARACTS, COLORS, AND CONTENT:  SHOPPING THE SALES FOR SPRING PALETTE COLORS

Now is a good time to find some of these spring  palette colors in warm shades.

We are also experiencing very warm weather, so I am not wearing much cold weather clothing…I am not going to purchase any heavy pieces at any price.

Let’s look at what I found in Chico’s big Semi-Annual Sale:

I do layer often, and I hope this color looks as lovely as it appears to.

This is called ROSE SMOKE, which sounds like a warmer shade of pink.

It is the MICROFIBER TANK and it comes in five colors….including a cooler shade of pink.

Currently, I own two athletic jackets that I wear often…one is olive green and one is black.

So, I am excited to own this shade called light taupe heather that also is a lighter jacket that I might wear more often.  Lighter than the taupe I am wearing in the cape.

It is the ZENERGY FRENCH TERRY FULL-ZIP JACKET.

So far, the only purchase I have made in the Talbots sale is this cardigan.

I want to try this color called pink rosette heather…looks to be a warmer pink and maybe near to one of my best spring palette colors, coral.

It is the V-NECK CARDIGAN….I like the big buttons.  They play to my “creative” style adjective.
