Monday notes for Women over 60

Happy Monday and countdown week! Today is Monday Notes for Women over 60.
On this day I share with the fabulous women over 60 who are blog readers what is happening in my world and offer some things that might be of service to you.
I will talk about what I am wearing in a moment.
But, first off let’s talk about the big holiday just four days away…Thanksgiving.
It is very different for our family this year.
So, let’s get cozy and have some girl-talk for the women over 60
MONDAY NOTES FOR WOMEN OVER 60: THANKSGIVING FOR ME

I cannot even remember the last time I have NOT cooked for Thanksgiving.
Though it was at my daughter’s house last year, I still participated in much of the cooking.
Now, I understand that many women over 60 are ready to have a break…for me, this is a meal I will miss preparing this year as all of our family spreads out.
I did volunteer to cook the same meal for Christmas dinner so we don’t miss it.

And when I see my son at Christmas, I will make this pie for him…it is his favorite and an old Kraft recipe.
It is the traditional Kraft Pumpkin Cheesecake Pie. I decorate it with piecrust autumn leaf cutouts dusted with sugar and cinnamon.
But this week…there will be silence in my kitchen on Thursday…though my Weight Watchers App will be happy.
MONDAY NOTES FOR WOMEN OVER 60: DEFINITELY FALL NOW

West Texas definitely feels like fall right now.
I have loved watching the leaves fall from the trees at the same time the wind is blowing and rain is falling.
I am beginning to realize that I am one of the few Women over 60 who tends warm…most of the women I know here are cold natured and get cold easily.
That is not me…the hot flashes seemed to stick around…and I must have the bedroom super cold at night to sleep.
So, I ask you, my friends…are you warm or cold natured at this time of life?
MONDAY NOTES FOR WOMEN OVER 60: BLACK FRIDAY

The other big happening this week is Black Friday…which has really begun for many retailers.
Here is another question…are you shopping Black Friday and who for…do you shop Black Friday for yourself?
If you are shopping Talbots sales for youself this week and you love leopard, this poncho is still available.
It is the JACQUARD LEOPARD PONCHO, and I am wearing the M/L. This is a lightweight poncho and I love to wear it.
I paired it with other Talbots pieces…the OUT & ABOUT STRAIGHT LEG PANTS...which I wear the two pair I own constantly…so comfortable and easy.
The brown long sleeve tee is ruched on the sides. Currently the only one I see on the website is in black and it is the SIDE RUCHED SCOOP NECK TEE.
I prefer to wear this poncho with brown or red or even a deep green.
My necklace was a local consignment shop find.
Please remember that you can go to your favorite retailer on my SHOPPING LINKS page and click to their sales that way…it does help to keep me here and support this blog.
And I am so appreciate of all who shop this way.
MONDAY NOTES FOR WOMEN OVER 60: CHRISTMAS IS UNDERWAY

The Christmas mugs are down…the village is set up…and both trees decorated.
Mr. B and I have been very busy all weekend turning our house into Gigi’s Cozy Christmas.
I will slowly begin to show you this week what we have been doing…but we are ready…bring Christmas on!
Thank you for joining me today for MONDAY NOTES FOR WOMEN OVER 60!
If you have a moment please answer the questions I asked within the post…it would be fun to know the answers…and I will be here tomorrow…until then…

Hi, Pam, you look fabulous in that poncho. Yes, fall has arrived. I am a cold girl. Not my heart, just my body, haha. I get out the flannels in Sept and keep them on till May. And socks are my friend. Pretty much all year. To everyone: Have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving week, no matter how you are spending it.
Thanks Marcia! My daughter is a cold girl and needs socks too! Often when I wear socks, I get too hot. The weather has to be very cold for me to be in socks. Thanks for joining in today!
Pam, like you I run warm! I need it COLD in our room to sleep well. I do like to snuggle under a top sheet and blanket along with a comforter. Weird?
Your pie for Christmas looks yummyand since I am baking a pie or two for our Thanksgiving at My daughter and son in laws house, I may add those cute leaves from my leftover dough! So special touches- I like that!
I love adding the leaves…to me it becomes a Thanksgiving pie that way. The grandchildren love to eat them…so when I do this I make extra.
Hard to say if I run warm or cold. My feet are always warm/hot so I don’t wear socks unless its below zero though I do wear flat socks in some of my loafers. But my hands get cold easily. I like a cool room, especially a cool bedroom. I don’t shop Black Friday at all. But I did shop last Saturday and it was like a party. Chico’s and Talbot’s are next door to each other in Biltmore Village and both had their grand opening after Helene on Saturday. Both handed out $50 gift cards, Chico’s to the first 50 customers and Talbot’s to the first 150. Both stores were packed and everyone was so happy to be able to shop in person and to see the same sales staff in both stores. We all made friends standing in line for fitting rooms and to pay. Talbot’s did not have that poncho. After seeing it on you I think I need it so I’ll order from your link.
I am definitely in the cold sector. People shaking my hand comment on how cold it is. The favorite accessory on my car is the steering wheel heater…..followed closely by the seat warmer. Socks are a part of everyday living and nighttime reading or watching TV requires a light throw over the socked feet and stretching up to my chest. And then I’m able to tuck my cold hands in to warm them up a bit.
I thought I would regret and be sad not doing the big T dinner, but over the last five years or so that’s become actually kind of nice and restful. Oh, I miss the delicious aromas, the laughter and conversation, but I don’t miss the clean up and the leftovers and the leftover leftovers. The quiet and peace is a good time to light candles and remember so many of the wonderful memories of the many years of doing it all. Enjoying it, but doing it all. I think my holiday retirement is a good thing. And I’m able to accept invitations from lovely friends to join them and celebrate with them.
I wish I had been at your party! I would be in for a $50 gift card for sure…I am so glad that you have these new stores near your Kathie. We could use the same type of set ups here in Abilene TX and I hope we are on their possibility list.
I love this poncho…I am so glad I purchased it when I did…it was during one of the Flash Sales a few months ago.
Good morning Pam !
I run cold most of the time. I always wear jackets in stores and restaurants. During the day I’m fine but toward evening when I start to get tired I am always freezing…LOL
Black Friday is not for me. If I’m looking for something I do it on line. I avoid shopping between now and the first of the year. I have found that most stores bring in shiny things to catch your eye but mostly the quality is not very good. I don’t have the patience to sift through all the “stuff”.
We live in Arizona where it reaches way over 100 for weeks at a time (like 115-120) so when it first drops into the 70’s I’m ready for a sweater. It’s a shock to my system. I don’t like extreme heat but I like cold even less probably because I spent the first 50 years of my life in New England where I felt I was going to freeze to death for most of my life.
I cooked Thanksgiving dinner for many, many years and loved it. But the in the past few years my son has asked if he and his love could do it since it was easier to be at home with an energetic toddler. At first I was a bit dismayed but then I realized how nice it is for me to cook the yummies I enjoy making and leave the prep and heavy duty cooking to the younger generation. The toddler is now almost 9 years old and enjoys having her friends come for Thanksgiving and playing in the jump house that Dad rents when there are going to be a number of kids there for the day. Keeps the kids happy and the adults have some quiet visiting time … just perfect.
Thanks for sharing, Beth! It helps so much for me to hear what other people think.
It does sound perfect, Ann…and lots of fun. Just the way Thanksgiving should be.
Sounds like your holiday retirement works well for you, Carol. I also have to admit that though I tend to be warm…I do love my seat warmers in the car!
Definitely warm. I sleep with the windows open, even in January when I’ve likely pulled out the heating blanket, lol. For me it’s about getting that fresh air all night.
I hope you have a terrific week, steeped in the holiday spirit. I’m off to spend the next several days with the boys and cook early Thanksgiving with my youngest, for the three of us when my oldest gets off work Wednesday evening. Then I will dash home early on Thursday, some leftovers in tow, and fix dinner for my father, husband and myself on actual Thanksgiving. So I get to cook about 1-1/2 times, lol. 🥧
Grateful for family, even when we’re scattered north and south.
I am so grateful for my family though we are scattered as well. I think you nailed it for me, Connie. I like the fresh air…I also like air to move, so I have two fans in the bedroom. I would rather be under my comfy warm bedding with cold air about…we rarely turn on the heater. It usually happens when temps go to the 30s.
Hi from sunny California! I run warm and am always sneaking the thermostat down a degree or two in the winter! This is my first year not cooking Thanksgiving as our families have grown, blended, parents have passed, and it is only two of us. We plan to eat in a restaurant, a real treat for me. No dishes! I will make a crockpot turkey breast later on for sandwiches and salads. I admire you having all of your house decorated already, wow! Anywho, wishing everyone a safe and healthy week.
Thanks Lisa! It took two solid days of non-stop work..but the house is fully done!
This is the first Thanksgiving in a long time that I don’t have to cook. It’s kind of a treat.
I feel as I get older (I’ll be 75 next month) I am cold but at night I tend to get hot.
Nighttime is my toughest time with temps…I hear you Paula. We have reservations to eat out this week and I am looking so forward to the meal…especially after being on a diet!
I’m definitely on the cold team!
Stay warm up there, Elaine!
As we age, my husband and myself prefer dressing in layers as we have lived through many Chicago winters! Just the two of us for Thanksgiving at home but my 96 year old mother and one of my brothers are coming over for Thanksgiving dinner. We make a traditional turkey dinner with plenty of sides and dessert so there are plenty of leftovers to go around! Fall decorations are up for the Holiday but soon to switch to Xmas mode.
That is wonderful that your mother can still join you, Mary J. I definitely will miss having leftovers..we have always enjoyed the Thanksgiving leftovers. But, as I said, I plan to do the same dinner for Christmas. Have fun with family!
I don’t run quite as warm as I used to, but I still keep my house on the cool side & keep the bedroom cool for sleeping. During the day, when I’m frequently moving about doing cleaning & other chores, I appreciate having the temperature at a cool level. If I get chilly while watching tv or reading, I will use a lightweight sweater or throw to keep warm. Of course, I love wearing sweaters, so the colder temps we will getting for Thanksgiving make me happy. I will be going to my older daughter’s house for Thanksgiving & bringing a side dish. She has hosted Thanksgiving for several years now. The younger daughter hosts most of the other holidays. I will be doing my regular Friday errands, but the Black Friday thing is up in the air right now. I will be attending an event on Small Business Saturday at one of the local businesses I like. I have some of my Christmas decorating done, & the tree will be going up this afternoon.
I’m warm most of the time but in the early evening I get chilly. I guess at that point I’m tired and sitting down with my feet up for the first time in the day. Although, my husband sits down next to me with ice cold hands and I warm his up with my warm ones. I like a throw while watching TV and a cooler bedroom.
It is just the two of us as our family is out of state. We had our HOA Friendsgiving party on last Sunday with a delicious traditional turkey dinner. Most of U.S. are elders and are in similar circumstances. We are in our 80s and appreciate the lovely dinner without the work. Thanksgiving day will be quiet without the cooking of a large meal. I don’t shop Black Fridays. We ordered a new sofa for our Christmas this year. So no gifts to wrap. We start decorating next weekend.
Love your outfit! I have a hard time discerning your new ‘spring’ title and I am wondering if you are truly a crossover between both spring and autumn.
I definitely run cold, but strangely enough I need two windows open at night (in the Maine winters!), heat at 62, and enjoy a cross breeze, even when it’s single digits. I like the warmth of my down comforter and waking up with a cold nose.
We all have idiosyncrasies!
You are busy! Enjoy it all, Becky!
A new sofa to sit and hold hands to warm on…so sweet, Sydney!
I may be a crossover…I know I still love my autumn colors as well as the spring…I think as long as I am in the warm palettes I am good. I also love my down comforter!
Pamela, perhaps you are a tonal warm. I’ve been analyzed twice. In person the first time under a system that’s no longer around I was a “sparkling” autumn. I still have the color wallet and there are some spring colors included. I later had a virtual analysis with a consultant in England and she typed me as a tonal warm. So I have a mix of autumn and spring colors again and the two color wallets are very close. I tend to gravitate more toward the autumn colors but wear some spring colors too. In both cases the colors are the warmer ends in the autumn and spring palette. You may fall into that category too.
These are new to me, Kathie! Thanks… I will do some research
