Happy Saturday!  Today have information for you of What’s New at Two Affordable Brands.

I know it is January, but that does not mean that all of the retail world comes to a halt.

After a few of you requested more about affordable brands, I began to do a little research and discovered what’s new at two affordable brands.

In fact, I know these are two favorites with this audience.

So, let me share with you my discoveries today.

WHAT’S NEW AT TWO AFFORDABLE BRANDS: QUINCE

affordable brands

Quince has rapidly gained a respectful place in the retail world for quality fabrics, great styles, and sold at very affordable prices…even the cashmere.

What’s New at Quince is that they are working with celebrity stylist, Erin Walsh, to assist with curating their looks.  She is pictured in our first image today.

My eye was captured by this lovely coat.

It is the 100% MERINO WOOL SHAWL COLLAR LONG COAT in the color heather bone….it does come in four colors.

In most stores, a coat like this would be $400 or more, but at Quince it is $160.

affordable brands

Quince fashions make it possible to look expensive and not pay expensive….that is why they are considered an affordable brand.

Case in point is this beautiful 100% ORGANIC COTTON FISHERMAN CREW SWEATER in ivory…it also comes in seven other colors.

What’s new is that we will now begin to see the favorite pieces offered in lighter colors as well.

affordable brands

You have to admit that at many affordable brands, you do not see style like you find at Quince.

This is the DRAPEY CHIFFON MOCK NECK LONG SLEEVE BLOUSE in barolo burgundy, one of three colors.

I will always love a great blazer with a tee shirt and denim.

This is the ITALIAN WOOL OVERSIZED BLAZER in classic glen plaid…one of three options.

As I said, the staples are beginning to appear with spring color offerings.

This is the 100% ORGANIC COTTON POPLIN CROPPED LONG SLEEVE SHIRT in the color called ballet slipper…one of four options.

I love this with the lighter wash denim.

Throughout the arrival of a new season, make sure you check in with Quince as one of your affordable brands.

WHAT’S NEW AT TWO AFFORDABLE BRANDS: OLD NAVY

affordable brands

Old Navy is at the top of affordable brands for so many ages of women.

It is becoming a regular happening for me to ask women over 50 where they found what they were wearing…and the answer is Old Navy.

Here are a few new happenings at Old Navy…and let’s start with tee shirts…because I am watching for a few to wear with a third piece.

This is the EVERYWEAR CREW NECK GRAPHIC TEE and this one is called In the Navy…there are many options here.

Here is another very affordable option for the blazer/jeans look.

It is the CLASSIC DOUBLE WEAVE BLAZER in heather gray, one of three colors….at $29.99!

The lighter wash jeans will be appearing more and more now as we move toward spring.

Old Navy reports this is currently one of the most popular new jeans.

It is the HIGH WAISTED OG LOOSE JEANS.…and it comes in a variety of washes and colors.

I am excited to head over to our Old Navy and check out these pants…they look exactly like my favorite T By Talbots pants that I wear often in navy and black.

But, Old Navy offers more colors and a way better price…also, I like their PowerSoft line….very soft.

These are the EXTRA HIGH-WAISTED POWERSOFT RIB FLARE LEGGINGS…in the color dark sepia.

affordable brands

This pant is new to me….it is another popular pant at Old Navy.

This is the HIGH WAISTED PIXIE FLARE PANTS in navy…comes in several options…and I do like that about Old Navy that they often have several options for their garments.

affordable brands

I have been told by several retailers that this shade of yellow will be trending this year.

It has already popped up in a couple of places.

This is the SO COMFY FULL-ZIP HOODIE SWEATSHIRT in the color golden straw.  It also comes in more colors…including softer ones for spring.

affordable brands

Finally today in our affordable brands, is this cute sweater I can see worn many places through spring and even at a beach cookout during Memorial Day weekend.

This is the ROLL NECK SEASIDE COTTON SWEATER in a blue stripe, but it is also offered in other colors.

For those of you desiring to see more options at the more affordable brands, I will do this for you occasionally so that you know what’s new.

Thanks for joining me today for What’s New at Two Affordable Brands…if you have thoughts or questions, please leave them here.

I will be back tomorrow and hope to see you too….until then….

  1. I bought my first item from Quince two years ago when you first featured their cashmere sweaters, and I was very impressed. For years I had hit the post-holiday sales at Dillard’s and Nordstrom for their lower end store brand cashmere pieces, which inevitably pilled, stretched and otherwise disappointed me in a very short time. Quince cashmere was an entirely different experience, and the v-neck sweater I bought two years ago this month still looks brand new after two winters of wear. This past summer I relied on their sales to add two pair of linen pants to my closet, both of which garnered lots of compliments. While they weren’t quite as flowy as I envisioned, they wore very well and held their colors (black and turquoise) after multiple washings, so I was very pleased. Old Navy has long been a favorite of mine, since my very tall daughter was in high school. I realized I was wearing a lot of her castoff pieces and started shopping their tall looks for myself. I’ve had issues with their inexpensive summer tees getting holes almost immediately, but at their sale prices, having fun tops to wear while babysitting in the summer is worth it. When they expanded into dressy evening separates a few years ago I added a few pieces that have served me well as I try to attend more “grownup” events in my city, instead of just the kids’ sports games.

Feeling proud that I managed to go into both JJill and Chico’s yesterday with the returns from last weekend’s shopping spree (yay for your links!) without even going near the sale racks! The items I kept will definitely be closet workhorses – a sweater blazer you recommended and a summer dress in a fall color at Chico’s, and a beautiful print dress from JJill that I can wear now with a heavier cardigan, tights and boots, and later this year with sandals or espadrilles. I’m taking notes on all the new items you’re showing us and saving links, in hopes that my sizes won’t be completely sold out when my house sells. I look forward to continued progress toward my goal of fewer but nicer pieces in my closet, and your posts are a great help in finding those special pieces.

  2. Quince is a winner! They never disappoint. I have not shopped Old Navy in years, but need to have a look. Pam, you told us about handbags they are now carrying, and I want to check these out. Happy Weekend!

  3. So happy to hear that I have helped! Good to know that you added dressy evening wear from Old Navy successfully. I do believe they have upped their game. Happy Saturday!

  4. I hope to get by Old Navy soon, but it may be after all the cataract surgeries which begin this week. But the times I have gone in during the past year, I was impressed with what I found. Thanks Marcia.

  5. Last summer I lived in Quince linen and gauze. The fit and quality were perfect. They washed well which is important. Some of the colors were good, other just OK but good enough. Until recently I haven’t been interested in their sweaters. Their colors generally aren’t warm enough for me but last month I saw they added a lovely green to their $50 cashmere and I ordered it. The color was great, it was a little thin but the fits right on. Within an hour of wearing it I broke out in a red itchy rash at on my neck. I couldn’t wait to get home and take it off. I am very sensitive to wool other than merino and I am convinced that either the neck ribbing or whatever was used to attach it was wool rather than cashmere. They have a wonderful return policy so I was able to return it even though I wore it briefly.

I really like the look of the poplin blouse but its not offered yet in a color I can wear. Its petite friendly so I will keep my eye on it as I know they add colors when an item is popular. I check their site every week or so to see what’s new.

I was in two dressing rooms yesterday and came away with nothing. In both cases to try on a sweater I had seen online and was attracted to the color & style. The first was poorly made and way too long. The other hung baggy and shapeless. As much I was wanted something new I walked away. I will say, however, that our newly remodeled Talbot’s has roomy well lit dressing rooms now.

  6. Hi Pam,
I do remember your first cataract surgery is this week. I’m going by memory, is it the 22nd? You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully they gave you a sheet to keep track of your drops. It helps to write it down. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
I have been shopping for years at Quince.
    Their bathroom towels are wonderful.

  7. Coming away with nothing is a big victory if you did not see anything that worked for you that day…a new Talbots sounds wonderful! However, the itchy rash does not….glad you were able to return.

  8. Thank you so much, Katherine. Also…the Quince sheets are great…so soft and they wash well.

  9. Thank you for telling us about Quince. I love their ponte knit pants. They come in different lengths, a good choice of colors and have belt loops, a must for me. I wear them for traveling and they hold up well and wash well too.I can’t wear wool and their cotton jackets are perfect and so is their delivery time.

  10. I am so glad these items have worked for you, Jill. Thank you for sharing with others which garments you like the most.

  11. Pam, just a note to let you know that I appreciate you featuring these affordable brands. I’ve shopped Old Navy for years for jeans and it’s nice to see that they are upping their game. And that new yellow is perfect for us Springs! Now it sounds like I need to get acquainted with Quince.

  12. Thanks so much for letting me know…I am also looking forward to more in that shade of yellow. Let’s have fun with it, Yvette.

  13. I have four sweaters from Quince that are merino wool with 5% cashmere that I love. I did hand wash them before wearing as I always get into trouble with my allergies if I don’t. They are thinner but very soft and warm. It hasn’t been cold enough here in my southern rural Colorado front range mountains to wear sweaters yet. Maybe today! Old Navy supplied me with a lot of gauze and linen clothes last summer. I lived in them! JCP is another great place for me to shop for tees and jeans. I did also by a few pieces from Gap and J Crew on sale. Getting my tight budget feet wet. Chicos sale jeans are also a favorite as their waistband is more forgiving. Thanks Pam for all the great choices today.

  14. I don’t shop at either retailer, but Old Navy is in a shopping center near me. Looking for jeans, will give them a try
