Monday Notes at My House

Monday notes

Happy Monday, everyone!  Welcome to Monday Notes at My House!

Today in Monday Notes at My House, we will be looking to have our cups filled in many ways…not actually at my house.

My own week will be mostly about doing all that needs to be done before my two cataract surgeries beginning this week, and still honoring Mr. B on his birthday this week.

But he insists that he is fasting…so I cooked enchiladas for him before he began his fast.

I do have a couple of recipes for you today…tested and tried on several women…as I take you back to Addie’s Boutique.

MONDAY NOTES AT MY HOUSE: SOUP & SHOP

Monday Notes

I loved Addie’s idea to have a homemade soup and shopping event in celebration of National Soup Month.

The two feature soups were tomato basil and hearty potato…and both were delicious….and the weather was actually cold outside with a strong wind blowing.

These events at Addie’s where she features goodies are always so much fun.

Monday notes

The women gather around the food and dressing room areas to eat and visit and try-on clothes.

It is the best girl-party around!

Monday Notes

I love to watch what her customers select to try on.

In Addie’s Boutique, there are a few new spring arrivals, mixed in with the winter outfits….and I saw women trying on both.

All of her customers are super friendly and love to look their best….girls will be girls no matter our ages.

And for anyone who brought their own soup cup, they received a 10% off discount.

Monday Notes

Sadly for me, I could not stay long on this day and I really wanted to because it was fun…with or without shopping.

I agreed to make dinner for my daughter’s family, so I had to sneak out to prepare the food.

But, there were several items which caught my eye and I will go back sometime soon to try them on…lunch, however, was so good.

MONDAY NOTES AT MY HOUSE: RECIPES

Monday Notes

Addie’s own chocolate chip pound cake was very popular for dessert and Addies says it is super easy.

CHOCOLATE CHIP POUND CAKE

1 Box of butter cake mix

1/3 cup vegetable oil

4 eggs

1 1/2 cups water

1 small box chocolate pudding

1 small box vanilla pudding

1 small package of chocolate chips

1 cup of chopped pecans

Mix together first 6 ingredients. Stir in chips and nuts.  Pour into prepared bundt pan and bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes.   Delicious!  And no one knew how easy this is.

Monday notes

I took two breads to donate for the event.

And it sounds like both were enjoyed…this first bread is sooooo good…and also very easy.  It would be excellent for soup, or an Italian meal, or a steak dinner.

And it is so good served hot just out of the oven….but, I have to report, none was left at Addie’s event thought not served hot.

This is the CHEDDAR BAY BISCUIT BREAD by The Southern Lady Cooks.

I did follow this recipe as is…but also used the European Butter I love so much.

Monday Notes

My mother-in-law’s cornbread recipe is very simple…not flashy at all…but also yummy

GRANDMA’S CORNBREAD

Whisk together:

1 cup all purpose flour

1 cup yellow cornmeal

1/4 cup white sugar

4 teaspoons baking powder

3/4 teaspoon salt

Stir in:

1 cup whole milk

2 eggs

1/4 cup melted butter

Bake 25 minutes at 425 in your favorite cornbread pan….or muffin pans.  But, treat with a baking spray.

I apologize that I do not have the soup recipes, but if I can get those, I will share them with you in the future…both were yummy.

MONDAY NOTES AT MY HOUSE: COLOR ON THE HORIZON

Monday notes

Throughout Addie’s shop, garments are marked as to which color palettes they work best for those women.  Like this bright pink is good for the summers and the winters.

Addie is helped by Kim, the local House of Colour representative, to mark these clothes and it is such a great service they perform for their customers.

And, I have some exciting news for everyone who participates in our blog community…which is a fabulous group of women as well.

Our online friend LindaM, will be here tomorrow, sharing her color analysis from last week and her experience in the process.  I am so excited that she agreed to have me post it for everyone.

So, come back tomorrow to join me and Linda.

And I thank you for joining Addie and me today in Monday Notes at my house.  After being here, I hope your cup is full!

Addie does an amazing job to at hosting events as if welcoming guests into her own home…it builds community and a strong customer base of women who want to be there.  You go girl!

Until tomorrow…..

  1. Thank you the recipes! They look yummy, especially the chocolate. My favorite whiskey cake has pudding in it. I can’t wait to try this out.
I CANNOT WAIT to hear about LindaLM’s experience. Mine was exciting and affirming. I hope she is happy and excited. It is such a fun road to be on!
This is a big week for you. All will be well. Happy birthday to Mr. B.

  2. Thanks so much, Deborah. The cake is delicious…you will love it. Linda is so sweet to share her experience with everyone.

  3. What fun Addie’s must be whether she’s having a special event or not! To see items marked as to color-related seasons would make shoppers feel more confident about their purchases. And food is always an easy way to draw people into a store. I appreciate your sharing the recipes, and was pleased to see your cornbread recipe uses the 1:1 meal to flour ratio I grew up using. However, I now make cornbread including a small can of creamed corn and I cook it in cupcake pans. Looking forward to reading LindaM’s color analysis result tomorrow.

  4. Thanks Celia! I have added so many things to cornbread over the years…including jalapeno…but I went with the basic on this one since it was for any audience that I did not know their preferences. But your version with the corn is delicious!

  5. Addie’s looks like a blast! I happened to notice the label on the pink top (which I think would be stunning on you, by the way). Liverpool Los Angeles is a favored brand of mine. Everything I own from them is cut well and made in a way you don’t always see these days. Wind chills here are going to be up to 20 below tomorrow, so I have all the ingredients for homemade soup. And this northern girl had a southern grandmother, so some cornbread to “sop it up” sounds really good!

  6. Addie’s is so much fun and wish other boutiques learned from her…I resist temptation with every soup I make and chili to make cornbread…love it so much. Stay warm and we will see you tomorrow.

  7. Pam, thanks for sharing your event at Addie’s. Wish I could be there. I’m looking forward to Linda’s color ideas. Thanks for all you bring to us.

  8. This looked like so much fun! What a special lady to have in your town. My birthday is this week too, January 22. Mr. V and I are spending a few days in Napa to commemorate. Needless to say, I will not be fasting on my special day haha. Tell Mr. B “Happy Birthday “ for me!

  9. Addie’s event looked like a lot of fun. And good food too. I printed the recipe for the cheddar biscuit bread. Looks delicious. Looking forward to LindaLM’s color analysis.

  10. That bread is so good…I am glad I have it in my recipe collection now…and all was gone at the event. See you tomorrow, Kathie.

  11. Enjoy celebrating in Napa, Lisa…how wonderful. Since that it surgery day for me…I will say HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY now!

  12. What a treat to have such a wonderful and community-minded shop. I am also one who appreciates a tasty soup + bread meal. This weekend was a hearty salmon chowder with garlic-cheese sourdough toast. My all-time favorite is a Hungarian mushroom soup with herby rolls. Oh, OR a piping hot bowl of pozole served with fresh corn tortillas! Oh, my. 🫠
    Happy Birthday to you hubby!

  13. Both of those soups sound delicious, as do the breads & the chocolate chip cake. I am looking forward to hearing about Linda M’s experience. Thanks to her for sharing.

  14. Sounds so good and cozy, Connie. Based on your selections here…you would love the Cheddar Bread!

  15. Looking forward to tomorrow with Linda LM. What a great idea Pamela! Happy birthday to your Mr. B! Addie is a unique woman with a marvelous business sense. Putting the color palette on each item for sale must be very time consuming but such a treasure for all of her customers.

  16. Sounds like the time at Addie’s was special. Thanks for the recipes as well. Looking forward to Linda M’s color analysis. Blessings always

  17. Birthday blessings to both Mr. B and Lisa V! We just had to cancel my grandson’s bday party for this Friday due to predicted icy weather. I’m hoping no one else’s celebration plans will be impacted by winter weather, which causes Texas to come to a complete halt. It’s always so much fun to see what’s going on at Addie’s and I love the idea of a soup-themed event. A friend always hosts a “Souper Bowl” party for anyone who doesn’t want to watch the big game. Prizes are given for best soup, and it is always a good time.
I can’t wait to hear about LindaLM’s color analysis and will be here with bells on!

  18. Sweet Pamela, thank you so, so much for the bread and cornbread you shared at the shop for our Soup & Shop Friday! They were both a huge hit! The girls loved them. Thank you for sharing the recipes!

And thank you for being part of our shop fam. ❤️

    Happy Birthday to your guy.
Prayers for smooth surgery and speedy healing, my friend.

  19. We’re thrilled the Cheddar Bay Biscuit Bread was a hit! This looks like such a fun event and thank you so much for including one of our recipes!

  20. Hi Leigh! Thanks for stopping by…I am enjoying several of your recipes. This bread is amazing…eat it as soon out of the oven as possible…so good hot. Thank you for the work you do.
