Monday Notes at My House

Monday notes

Happy Monday, everyone!  Welcome to the weekly lifestyle post called Monday Notes at My House.

Well, you can see that my neighborhood has not looked the same over the weekend and is the highlight of Monday Notes at My House.

Everything in my life right now has all come in sync as I am recovering from the first cataract surgery and happy to be relaxing at home while a winter storm blew by.

To be forced to be still and rest for awhile is not a bad thing, but I know some of you are like me and need to be forced to rest at times.

Thursday is when I go for the follow up visit on the first eye.

I am currently wearing older glasses for reading, my current ones are too strong now (Yay!).

The hardest part for me is to not rub my eyes…especially since they often itch from allergies.

The doctor’s office gave me a metal eye patch to wear at night, but it is too bothersome to sleep with it, so…

My son gave me the idea to wear oven mitts at night!! And it works!  I just have to be very careful and thoughtful during the day to not reach for that eye.

Hopefully when I go to the eye doctor on Thursday, all will be well and ready for Eye #2.  (YES to all who have said to use the drops!)

MONDAY NOTES AT MY HOUSE: SNOW

Monday notes

At the moment I am writing this on Sunday, I have beautiful instrumental music playing and the snowflakes are still falling.

Thankfully, we have experienced more snow than ice.

I find this snowfall to be so peaceful and welcomed right now.  And because we do not see it often, the beauty does take my breath away.

The stillness of the city as most stay inside just adds to the peace.

It is as if we are visiting a new place and on a trip.  I love when the wind whips up a pile of snow and blows it from the roof.

Monday notes

The squirrels seem to love it and run and chase each other across the tops of the snow as if they were young children playing chase.

But, I think my favorite scenes are the cardinals that come to our bird feeders.  The bright red on the snow is stunning.

I know for many that the cardinals are signs of hope and angels present.

And I need that hope and wisdom right now because…..

MONDAY NOTES AT MY HOUSE:  EVIL ARRIVES

Monday notes

This is my grandson out in the snow telling evil to back off Gigi.

Over the weekend, a hacker got hold of many of my accounts and email.

I am still working through the annoyances…and seeking wisdom in order to prevent future attacks.

I really enjoy being online and writing the blog…and I am not ready to throw in the towel.

But, it is tough, ladies, with all of the evil present online now.

I may have to make some major changes to what I do…and that will not be a bad thing…but it will take online wisdom, time, and some income.

I tell you all of this so you will not be surprised if things change as we near spring.

Hopefully by today, the bank and some platforms will work with me to right the wrongs done over the weekend.

Thanks for your patience as I work through all of this, and for your patience as I get through these eye surgeries.

I have been planning content and am excited for what I have in the future for you…preseverance will get me through!

MONDAY NOTES AT MY HOUSE: ESTATE SALE SHOPPING

Monday notes

Early last week, I arose to find this sign…IN MY YARD!  It was pointed down the side street.

So, I put on my walking shoes and headed out to find the sale.  Of course, this was before cataract surgery.

I came away with just a couple of little things, and then found something I had been shopping for awhile.

Monday notes

A Baker’s Rack to use for plants!  The ones I had seen online were very expensive and I had put them in my maybe someday file.

However, it did not occur to me to thrift shop one…and there it was just waiting for me at a very good price.

This one is sturdy and will hold several plants…I cannot wait to decorate it in the spring.

I plan to be here this week with content to hopefully benefit you…if the hacking prevents that, I will put notices on Instagram and Facebook…hopefully, that will not be necessary.

Thank you for joining me today for Monday Notes at My House…I hope everyone is safe and warm…and peaceful!

Until tomorrow….

EMBRACE TODAY & KEEP SMILING!

  1. I feel your pain! I was hacked last spring, and it is still causing annoyances. Good luck with that and your next cata

  2. Your snow pictures are beautiful, especially to those of us who do not live in areas that get snow often. I trust your heat and warmth were not a problem this time. Here in South Georgia we only got rain, and will have cold temps for us for a few days. Evil is the correct way to think about what can and is done online these days. I’ve realized that so much of what I see online now is A.I. and I’ve learned to attempt to read other articles before I post something. I hope you can solve your problems quickly. I’m glad to know your weekend was comfortable after your surgery. And now you literally “ see” that the surgery is not to be dreaded. Another idea about sleeping is to tape a piece of gauze over your eye with that tape that does not hurt to remove. I think that’s what I did and was comfortable sleeping.

  3. I am so happy that your eye is healing nicely and that you have been able to enjoy the blanketing of snow surrounding you. It is always so peaceful and cleansing when it first comes down and there is nothing else to do but enjoy it. I am extremely unhappy to think that your recuperating time has been eaten up by hackers. If only these clever evil do-ers would put their evil talents to positive use. Pamela, you are the epitome of patience and optimism.

  4. Oh Pam, I’m so sorry about the hackers. How incredibly frustrating for you, and all while recovering from surgery. I think we’re probably all just one step away from that same experience. Take time to rest if you can. Amy

  5. Thank you, Celia. The oven mitt had worked great. But I am so accustomed to rubbing my eyes that I find myself about to reach for it during the day. Maybe I should do your idea during the day! My allergies do cause my eyes to itch often.

  6. Thank you, Deborah. This hacker situation has tested that patience but all I can do is try to figure it out. I wish I understood tech better without having to wait for help. We are still shut down by snow today. So I will work on it.

  7. I too have itchy eyes from allergies, and never thought about the cataract issue. Glad you are healing, though. Do what you have to do to protect yourself online … it’s really the wild west out there. Yes, snow is gorgeous when it first falls. I love a good snowstorm if I don’t need to go anywhere. But here some winters, the snow hangs around for weeks, getting slushy, mixing with road dirt, being trod on by everything four- and two-legged, etc. That’s when I make sure all my suede stays in the closet (every year, I vow never to buy it again), and I dream of an early spring. Often we travel during part of January or February to break it up, and that helps everything from my mood to my activity level to my dry skin.

  8. Hi, Pam. Your words about the snow and peaceful feeling were a joy to read today. We also have snow and it is minus 1 degree this morning, but we have a beautiful sunshine! It’s glorious. I am sorry to hear about the hacking. it is just so sad. It seems to be the way of today’s world. Keep your joy, and continue to take care.

  9. I can understand why the snow would get burdensome. We are in our third day of being in the house and that does get old. I have much research to do about being online, and some changes to make…I will keep everyone notified.

  10. No hacker can rob my joy, Marcia. All of this is annoying more than anything, but possibly this will motivate me to make changes I have needed to make for a long time. Thanks so much….the sun this morning makes the snow look like sheets of glitter sparkling for our pleasure.

  11. Yes snow falling is very peaceful and especially if no one is out on the roads.
Good to hear you’re feeling okay.
Too bad about the hackers they really know how to destroy our lives by wreaking havoc on what we use daily.
I wanted to thank you for your response yesterday I do have my Bible open to Proverbs 31 and plan on reading it in total this morning. Yes, “to be a woman of strength is important”.

  12. Dear Pamela,
The snow on your property is pretty and serene looking. It’s good that you have that to enjoy while you heal from your first cataract surgery.
I feel so badly that you have been hacked by an evil person. It causes so much grief. I hope you can undo the bad it’s caused you both. We have Norton security on all of our devices. It’s been a God send. You still have to be super diligent.
I too have allergies and my eyes itch too along with dry eye. You probably know or already use “Pataday.” This is for allergies. I use one drop in the morning when my eyes are itching me. Also a humidifier helps to have on a few hours before I go to bed. We have one in our great room too. It’s dry in AZ in the winter.
I wonder if your eye surgeon would allow you to use the “Pataday.” Just trying to help.
My thoughts are with you, and our country is in a mess with this horrid ICE killings.

  13. Good Morning Pam, glad you are enjoying snow rather than dealing with ice. We did not get the ice that was predicted. We had plenty of rain and then a freeze so the roads are slippery. Currently we have light snow and temps diving down toward 0. The birds are busy at the feeders and even the blue birds have come to my heated birdbath. I’m so sorry you are having to deal with evil hackers and hope it can be resolved easily. The baker’s rack is a real find and will be fun to fill with plants.

  14. My first thought to reduce the itching would be to call the doctor’s office and ask if it’s okay to take Benadryl tablets. I used this medication (and Aveeno bath oatmeal) to soothe my youngest son’s bouts with irritants.

So sorry about your hacker troubles. I have no advice, but hope all can be made whole and right for you.

Enjoy your beautiful snow, and thanks for the gorgeous photo.
    ☃️🤗

  15. Snow is lovely to be sure and we are buried under 15 solid inches of it with about 18 degrees of cold And ice outside. But we are fine! Still waiting for our plow company to get here. He’s buried too! Patience is a virtue.
On the hacking – yes these are evil people out to rob us at every turn! I hope you get this straightened out without too much trouble.

  16. Katherine, you and I are on the same page with much of your comment today. We have used Norton for years, but today’s hacker is very very clever. I still am not sure how this happened. But passwords have been changed. Many bloggers have abandoned old platforms which hackers have now figured out. I need to look at the new…that is a big change and may disrupt things for awhile, but it will be awhile before I figure this out. Sadly, money was stolen from me and until that is straightened out, I do not have extra income to pay someone to help me. But, one day at a time, I will get there.

  17. I am so excited about that baker’s rack…it was a true treasure for me. A heated bird bath! I did not know they existed…thanks for the heads up. Mr. B has kept those bird feeds full for the past three days…there have been many birds around. Thanks Kathie

  18. I have had allergies for YEARS upon YEARS and dealt with many different remedies and medications. I cannot use the Pataday drops currently with my regular eye drops. Nothing I have ever tried takes care of the eyes, but I use allergy medication every day. All of the ladies here are so sweet to offer ideas…this is just something that will be a problem for me during the two eye surgeries. Many allergy medications knock me out, so I take them at night. Thaniks Connie.

  19. So sorry about the evil hacking/ seems something like this happens in relation to weather events. The sun is out here in KY, but it is 2 outside, to be 16 today. The snow is beautiful, but it is not leaving any way soon. My cataract doctor’s office gave me a plastic shield for sleep for 7 days with two rolls of nice tape. I did what I was told to do. I had to go back the morning after and also a week later. I had the second three weeks after the first. I was grumpier during the first as the surgeon ran late, and I was hungry and thirsty!

  20. I can understand that you were a little grumpy! They gave me the shield and the tape, but I could not sleep with it…so the oven mitt has worked well for me at night. Though the one I am wearing makes me look a little like a Michael Jackson throw back!
My follow up is this Thursday with the second eye surgery one week from that. Looking forward to when it will all be done. Thanks Cheryll.

  21. Oh Pam! I feel for you and the heartache of being stolen from by wrong doers! Do you have a Patreon that we can donate to, to help you through this time?

  22. You are so kind, Lisa. I do not want that to happen. The frustrations right now is getting past AI and getting help from humans that will respond quickly. It is amazing the damage these thieves can do.

  23. Pam, I’m so terribly sorry money was taken from you how violating. Most of us in retirement live on monthly/yearly budgets. The whole hack came at the worst possible time as you recover from your first cataract surgery. It’s to bad that these evil people can’t put their time to good. know the patch and tape is not fun. My regular eye doctor said the cataract surgery may make your eyes more dry. Not trying yo play doctor here, that maybe the case with you.
Keeping you in my thoughts. You will power through all of this.

  24. I’m so sorry about you getting hacked. It is like they took advantage of you when you were having eye surgery. Too much evil behavior going on right now. I have a grandson in Minneapolis and we worry about his safety. He is estranged from us so we don’t know how he is coping with the situation there.
We only got about an inch of snow. It was 3 degrees when I went to bed about midnight. It is sunny and up to 31 degrees now. The snow is going away fast.
I have year round allergies as well that affect my eyes. When I had cataract surgeries, I was allowed to take Zatador drops once a day. I also had to get an evaporative humidifier that is going about four feet from where I’m sitting. Don’t use any eye medication OTC without your surgeons advice. I wore the clear plastic shield to protect my eye. Your oven mitt idea is good as long as you are not rubbing your eyes with it in your sleep.
Good luck with your upgrades to get away from the results of the hacking. What a headache and heartache that is and should never have happened to such a decent person as you. We will be here if you need to stop the blog for a while. Keep all of our email addresses.

  25. I assure you that I am not putting anything on the eyes than the two bottles of drops I was given. I hope you hear from the grandson soon, Sydney…that would concern me as well.

  26. I am sorry that you are experiencing problems because of evil online people. I admire your determination not to let them win. I am glad that your eye is healing nicely, & that God provided you with the natural beauty of snow & cardinals while you are being forced to take it easy. Stay warm & safe!

  27. I am warm and safe…thank you, Becky. I believe I will get my money back, but it takes up to 10 days for that to happen…which is sooooo annoying. Though my patience has been tested this morning, I am persevering through.

  28. We had some snow, sleet and rain, but not enough to affect our power, we are so blessed when I see what others have endured and will for some time to repair everything. We will be praying for you as you repair the problems with your accounts. Glad your recovery for your eye is going quite well!

  29. When I had cataract surgery years ago, the spring pollen/allergies came along at the same time. My doctor prescribed prescription allergy drops that could be used with the cataract drops. It helped immensely. So sorry about the hacking situation. Online has its great advantages along with many disadvantages. Take care of yourself.

  30. Kathye, this is so helpful.,,I will ask my doctor about the drops! Thank you…and those advantages you mentioned are why I am still here!

  31. How does one prevent a hacker from obtaining information? Does anyone out there use a private VPN? That is something I have considered but never initiated.

  32. Oh your photos are delightful and what a perfect excuse to stay in and recuperate.
I am so sorry to hear about your hacking experience and for it to come at such a time too. You are handling the situation with grace and a positive attitude, attributes that I associate with you. I hope you get things sorted out and get reimbursed the money that you lost. It’s a timely reminder about digital safety and also to have the appropriate security in place.

  33. I thought I had taken every precaution, Nancy. But obviously there is more to do. If I learn something I believe will be of value to everyone here, I promise to share it,.

  34. Thank you Julie…we are all still home today…I think it will get above freezing this afternoon, so that the streets might be safer for awhile.
