Monday Notes at the Hair Salon!

Happy Monday, friends! Today we go on a field trip with Monday Notes at the Hair Salon.
Monday Notes at the Hair Salon is a special feature…to start our week off with a little fun.
First, allow me to review, for anyone stopping by who may be new here.
Last year, I had my colors done by House of Colour in Abilene, TX. To my surprise, I am a Spring!
I have slowly been moving that direction….from an autumn to a spring. (more about this tomorrow).
Since, my recent cataract surgeries, I knew I would no longer be wearing my serious glasses any longer.
So, not only is it a good time to re-think frames for readers and sunglasses, but was also a good time to re-think my hair color.
I wrote about the hair and asked your opinions in this recent post, TIME TO CELEBRATE NEW STYLE DECISIONS.
All of these styles were sent to me by my color specialist, Kim.
Now we are caught up to last Friday…which was the day at the hair salon.
MONDAY NOTES AT THE HAIR SALON: IT’S REALLY MAGIC

My Monday Notes must include the full story…so you have to begin with the ugly.
I say they worked magic because I entered the hair salon looking like this…a bit rough.
I know it is hard to tell but my hair color actually was more ash…I call it dirty blonde…than anything.

Heather, my stylist, gave this new decision such care and I placed myself into her hands.
She looked at the entire post…and read every comment.
Her desire was to ease into this and not be too bold, but be a beautiful color with a little drama.
And she recommended the drama come from… gold.
Then she went to mixing her potions showing me example colors along the way and why she felt like this was the warm, bright a spring palette could wear.
Gold made complete sense to me because springs are best in gold jewelry.

After three hours, I went from dull to “wow” with blondes and golds woven together.
She also gave me a good healthy cut.

In the sun, the subtle strands of color and gold are vibrant.
I love this and think it was exactly what I was hoping for…going too dramatic had me concerned…though it can always be fixed.
For anyone living in or near Abilene, Texas, I cannot recommend Heather and Trinny too much.
They are located at the THE HAIR PARLOR, 3140 South 27th…or call 325-676-3359.
And, the results achieved what I was going for…to compliment my spring palette…my daughter said that it brightened my complexion so much that I looked younger. She was amazed.

Right after my hair appointment, I had a date! And the ladies had me ready for it!
Our oldest grandson becomes the first teenager this week of the eight grandchildren. I cannot believe he is going to be 13!
So, I picked him up and took him shopping. He is just about ready to be completely out of the kids departments.

I think his very favorite purchase was this Ralph Lauren knit cap that was 65% off in DILLARD’S.
He will get a little wear out of it before the heat sets in, and once he put it on, he wore it the rest of the day.
We had a great time and I love that he is steadfast with his likes and dislikes…actually makes shopping easier.
He will not allow me or any sales associate to talk him into something he knows he will not wear.
He wants to look nice, but still has a touch of whimsy within him…his favorite tee shirt that we found at American Eagle had Snoopy on it in running gear.
It is the AMERICAN EAGLE AE BOXY SNOOPY GRAPHIC T-SHIRT.
He loved the style of the shirt.
The tee he is wearing is one we brought him the last time Mr. B & I went to Puerto Vallarta….he just may have a little of my bold creative love of style inside.

Our last stop was Target and we both looked cool and confident at we went inside….he had a hat…I had new hair!
Oh yes, under my knit blazer, that I have owned for a few years, I am wearing a OLD NAVY EVERY WHERE GRAPHIC TEE...I recently purchased a couple of them and love this blazer look…the tees fit great.
I know…I am one who said that I was done with graphic tees…but I am in the mood to experiment and have a little fun with my casual style. And the two I bought, I think totaled to $13.
Now, that the eye surgeries and hair color are finished, I feel flooded with things to do….closet clean out and re-organization hangs heavy over me…but I will get there.
Thank you for joining me today for Monday Notes at the Hair Salon…
I will be back tomorrow to discuss my spring palette shopping priorities….until then.

I love your new haircolor etc!! I have gold hair too! Don’t know my colors but always had gold hair. Knew ash would not work for me. How exciting for you and all your endeavors going forward!! Cute blonde grandson too!
Well done to the Hair Stylist. Your hair looks so pretty on you and I agree that it makes you complexion so pretty and look younger. Great job.
Your new hair is beautiful and does make you look younger! I know you are happy to have your eyes and hair both improved. I’ve found shopping with teenagers can be a frustrating experience as they are very opinionated and don’t necessarily want to dress as “ we think” they should. We gave our five grandchildren cashmere hats similar to your grandson’s and I was surprised how often the boys wore theirs. It may have been because of “bed hair” but two wore their hats even during warmer weather. We have one grandchild who is unique, in my opinion, as to how she dresses, but I love her uniqueness and expressions of her style which is different from the way many teenage girls dress.
He is a cutie…and I adore him. Thanks Debra…this new blend of color is just perfect for me.
My hazel eyes have flecks of gold in them..so the hair goes perfectly. Thanks Dianne.
I was so impressed with him and his decisions on this shopping trip. For now, it was not frustrating at all. I like his current sense of style and I like that he wants to look put together. He likes a polo shirt for church and going out to eat…that impressed me!
I really love your color choice. That deeper tone really brightens everything.
Thanks Susan…I am very happy with it and so glad I listened to Heather’s advice.
You are very lucky to have a hair stylist who can work with you and you trust her!
You do look really good in the new color and style.
How exciting for you. Sometimes we all need a bit of a lift.
Love it! Stunning! You looked thrilled! Kudos to you and your team. The highlights and lowlights blend beautifully. I was confused about seeing you in day glasses. Have you chosen to still wear them as an other blogger mentioned last week? I can’t wait to see you in the new sunglasses and your bright spring colors.
Shopping with grandchildren is quite an experience. It really takes me back. I have only two, 9 and 10, but I enjoy their choices and flares of uniqueness. Have a bright day.
I had hoped you would have thin gold highlights! Your stylist did a -beautiful- job. I love it! At the high school where I substitute teach, I find the teenagers somewhat less conforming than we used to be, though there is a sea of hoodies, black leggings, Adidas, and track pants. There are a decent number of students who have really thought through their choices and combinations within the framework of what’s currently cool. I love that they are expressing themselves like your grandson does. Your outing sounded like so much fun, and I really like the hat on him. From one accessories lover to another :).
WHat a fun day you had! Your hair does look beautuful. Are you talented at styling it yourself? ( blow drying to a smooth look I mean). I have trouble with it…..
Shopping with our grands can be a good time if they know what they want to look like, as your grandson obviously does. Chic! Cool. Casual.
Enjoy your week!
Pamela, you look stunning!! What a fun day with your handsome grandson. It doesn’t get better than that!!
I love your new hair color and your daughter is right, you are glowing and you do look younger, Pamela! I’m sure it’s a big relief to have your cataract surgeries behind you and to be able to move forward with your life. There are so many blessings to be found in an “ordinary” day. Your grandson is adorable and it sounds like you had a great, memory-filled day together. They grow up so fast. Our granddaughter turns 30 this year and still enjoys hanging out with us, and I feel so blessed to spend time with her. Time spent with grandchildren is so precious!
I know..this has been a great lift. And it is a blessing to have some of these wonderful Abilene women on my team. Thanks Paula.
I just put the glasses on for a picture. I did not have my eye makeup done completely that day. Thanks for the affirmation on the color.
I do love his confidence to wear what he likes. A few years back I gave him a Monopoly Man tee for a summer camp event…and he is wearing that tee now with a smile. THe gold highlights make such a difference. Thanks Linda.
Thanks Paulette…yes, if I take the time I can style it and tame the beast a bit…but it does require a time commitment to get it done right.
I know…it was very special. Thanks Marcia.
The time with all of them is special, Niki. I only wish I saw the five in San Antonio more often.
Your stylist chose the perfect combination. Your hair looks great!
Your hair color is beautiful. Nothing like a new “do” to give you a new spark. The cut is fantastic also.
Thanks Audrey! She is very good!
Thank you…it does give a refreshing lift!
You look lovely with your new “do.” Your grandson is adorable. Grandchildren are such blessings. I used to take all four of mine shopping, and I miss those days. Our baby is 21! Soak up all the memories you can. At Christmas I realized they are fun adults to hang out with now!
I really have come to appreciate all the stages and age changes. I love my own children as adults and we are all still close. You are so right to soak it all up while we can. Thanks Cheryll.
GORGEOUSNESS!!! Oh, my! That shot of the back where you can really see all the beautiful colors could be a salon poster.
So glad you had fun with your nearly-teenage grandson.
With regard to the daunting closet job, I took my very recent overhaul in one hour chunks. Over the course of about three days, I was able to tackle all three of my bedroom closets (old house, so two of those are quite small) and the downstairs closet under the stairs which I use for shoes, purses and seasonal outerwear. Each time I ran slightly over the hour I had allocated for myself, but as I surveyed my progress, an extra 20 minutes or so seemed very much worth it. Now I have such happiness when I open my closets and, most importantly, I know they are ready for homebuyer scrutiny as we prepare to list!
I think I am going to follow your advice here, Connie. Looking for the time it will take in one day just hasn’t done it. Thank you for the suggestion.
I love your new hair color and cut! You look very energized and ready to take on the world! Your grandson is so cute! It is funny how kids develop their own style pretty quickly! My 5 year old granddaughter is very specific about what she wears. I can’t just pick something out and send it to her because she may not like it 😊
The good news is, Denise, when we know they are picky with dressing…it saves money and helps us know what they like. Shopping with him was eye opening, plus his manners and decision making pleased me so much.
Thank you!
Dear Pam,
Your new hair color and cut looks awesome. Wowie, what a difference. You must be feeling happy. 😊
Your grandson is cute, he looks like a cool dude, “rock star” personality.
Have a great day.
Great new hair color. You look fabulous. How special to be able to shop with your adorable grandson. Cool that he has a good handle on his personal style. Happy Monday!
He would LOVE to know you said that, Katherine! Thank you…this hair style & color make a huge difference.
He really does…it is admirable. Thanks Kathie!
Your new hair color is stunning! and definitely brightens your face.
Your new color and cut look really lovely with your complexion. You are glowing girl! You are so lucky to have your grandchildren near you. Mine have always lived in other states and because of my two older sons being career military men, they were in different countries. My great grandchildren are the age of your grands and they still live all over the country. Have fun making memories as that boy is slowly turning into a man. He will remember these times with you.
Thank you Gina…that is the goal when we wear our best colors…even on top!
I hope so…they are here with me right now and I try to make every time a memory.
Your new cut and color look stunning! So nice that you found such a talented team of stylists. Kudos to you and your family for raising such a great grandson. He’s well mannered, stylish like his Gigi, and still loves spending time with you. Such beauty in your relationship with him. No wonder you are beaming and glowing!
Your new hair color is perfect for you. Your daughter nailed it with her compliments, & I second them.
What a fun way to take your new hair for a spin by going on a date with your soon to be a teenager grandson. I hope he has a very happy birthday.
They do make me glow! Thanks Deanna!
Thank you, Becky…it was such a wonderful day!
Love your new hair color and your grandson’s style! Such a fun day for both of you.
Yes it was! Thank you, Cathy.
