Weekly Devotions for Women

devotions for women

Happy Sunday, everyone.  Welcome to the Weekly Devotions for Women.

I certainly hope you had a blessed week and there were smiles and deep feelings of joy, and I thank you for joining in with the devotions for women.

This week has been all about love.

As a young girl in middle school and even into high school, I hated Valentine’s Day.

It was a day that I typically watched other girls called to the office to pick up flowers or gifts from an admirer.

Some parents took care of that so their daughters were called to the office.

But, my parents thought that ridiculous and a waste of money.

It seemed every year there was a boy I dreamed would buy me flowers…but only watched as he gifted another girl.

Valentine’s Day was a day of rejoicing…when it was over.

WEEKLY DEVOTIONS FOR WOMEN: REAL LOVE

The fact is that I really had no idea what love was.

Until I knew (beyond a shadow of a doubt) that the Lord is my loving Father.

He showed me what unfailing love is and has been faithful with His love every single day.

I have been overcome with it and washed in it….an amazing, powerful love.

I was so deeply moved this past week listening to actor James Van Der Beek speak of God’s love for him right before he left the earth to enter heaven.

He said he discovered his true identity was in being a child of God…not merely an actor,  husband, or father though he loved all of those roles.

Once I also learned that my true identity is as God’s child…I know longer cared if there were flowers on Valentine’s Day.

Though God did gift me with Mr. B forty one years ago, and there have been a few flowers in there.

But, when I need love…true love…I sit and spend time with my Father…who is always there to love me.

This is my prayer for you as well…that you would know how big God’s love is for you.

His love does fill me full to overflowing…I never feel empty since I discovered this powerful love.

I hope no one here was sad yesterday on Valentine’s Day…just remember, your loving Father awaits to spend time with you and to show you his unfailing love.

Have a blessed day.

GOD LOVES YOU

  1. Wonderful thoughts about God‘s love, Pamela. One of my favorite teachers, Joyce Meyer, often says “ God will never love you more than he does right now”.
I noticed on one of your posts a while back you had a picture of the book “ Jesus Calling”, that devotional book helped me so very much after my first husband died at age 55 from a heart condition. For anyone seeking the love of Jesus, that is a great book to start with.
As always, thank you for your encouragement and inspiration. Have a wonderful day!

  2. Lovely post, Pam. I once heard, “If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it. God thinks you are a big deal.” What a thought! All we really need is God’s love. Have a special Sunday. 😀

  3. Jesus Calling is my favorite…mine is earmarked and written on almost every page…God used this devotional in a powerful way for me to understand the depth of His love. You are right, Debra, it is perfect for anyone who wants to understand more about God’s love.

  4. He is out Father, Shepherd, Creator…and loves us more than we can every know or understand. And all of those pictures are on his heart. Thanks Marcia.

  5. Truly we have a God who loves us, how wonderful. And I have a husband who has shown his love to me for over 65 years, how blessed I am. On Valentine’s day since we were in college, (until the last few years because of health issues) he made his Valentine for me from paper, lace, or whatever he could find in my craft drawer, wrote his own poem to me and did a special delivery!

  6. Thank you for sharing these Bible verses. I always enjoy reading your different devotions every week.
The true love is our love of God and hoe he loves us unconditionally.

  7. One of my favorite songs, not a hymn but powerful, is “A Love Without End Amen.” Jesus called the Father “Abba” (Daddy) and the line that keeps repeating in this song is “Daddies don’t just love their children every now and then; its a love without end, Amen.”

I just finished listening to the audiobook “Ben Hur, A Tale of Christ”. There is so much more to it than was shown in the movie (which I love too). Note the whole title of the book. It was written in 1880 so though the writing style and some of the stereotypes may seem outdated to modern ears, the story of Ben Hur’s conversion is powerful. It happens when he finally realizes the love that Jesus has for him and for everyone.

  8. I am familiar with the book, but never read it..now I think I will add it to my own 2026 reading list. Thanks Kathie.

  9. The book is well worth reading. Thank you, Pam for your Sunday blog. I look forward to it every week.
